Membrane Cleaning (CIP) Systems
CIP skids for cleaning RO, NF and UF membranes, sized to your membrane array and cleaning train.
Product Description
A CIP skid is maintenance equipment, not a treatment stage, and DSTC sizes it to recover RO, NF or UF membrane performance without damaging the elements. Each skid is sized to the membrane array and largest cleaning train, then built with a heated cleaning tank, circulation pump, cartridge filter, valves, pipework, instruments and controls. DSTC pairs the skid with SEKO dosing and PWT cleaning chemicals such as Lavasol alkaline and acidic cleaners and OPTI cleaner, and supports the site with commissioning, cleaning procedures and ongoing chemical supply.
For quotation, send the feed water analysis, plant capacity in m3/day, number and diameter of membranes, array configuration, largest cleaning train, membrane type (RO, NF or UF), available power and delivery city.
Overview
CIP is a maintenance skid, not a normal treatment stage in the water line. It is used when normalized flow drops, differential pressure rises or salt passage increases. The skid must be sized to the membrane array because tank volume, pump flow, cartridge filter size and pipework depend on the number and diameter of elements and the largest train cleaned at one time. DSTC builds CIP skids with heated tanks and controlled circulation so cleaning remains within safe membrane-maker limits.
Applications
- •Routine and recovery cleaning of brackish water RO membranes in industrial and commercial plants
- •Clean-in-place for seawater RO trains at desalination plants in Jeddah, Yanbu and Jubail
- •Restoring flux and salt rejection on RO systems fouled by scale, silica or organic matter
- •Cleaning NF membranes used for softening, color and hardness reduction
- •Cleaning UF membranes on pretreatment and process water systems
- •Scheduled membrane maintenance for hotels, compounds, factories and utility plants across Riyadh, Dammam and the Eastern Province
Product Range & Specs
- ✓Process: circulates alkaline and acidic cleaning solutions through membrane elements at controlled flow and temperature, with rinse steps between stages
- ✓Skid components: heated cleaning tank, circulation pump, cartridge filter to catch loosened solids, valves, pipework and instrumentation, assembled as one packaged unit
- ✓Chemical dosing: SEKO metering pumps with PWT cleaning chemicals, including Lavasol alkaline and acidic cleaners and OPTI cleaner
- ✓Controls: tank heater and temperature control, flow and pressure indication, and cycle control to run alkaline and acid stages safely
- ✓Capacity: sized to the membrane array by number and diameter of elements and the largest cleaning train, so tank volume and pump flow match the plant rather than a fixed model
- ✓DSTC support: skid sizing to your array, chemical supply, commissioning and guidance on cleaning frequency and procedure
Product Summary
A CIP system circulates cleaning solution through RO, NF or UF membranes to remove scale, organic fouling, biofilm and metal oxides. It helps restore flux and salt rejection without removing membranes from the plant.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does a CIP system actually do to my membranes?+
It circulates cleaning chemicals through RO, NF or UF elements to remove scale, organic fouling, biofilm and metal oxides, then rinses them out. This helps recover flux and salt rejection as membranes foul.
How is the CIP skid sized?+
It is sized to your membrane array, not selected as a stock model. DSTC sizes tank volume, pump flow, cartridge filter and pipework from the number and diameter of membranes and the largest cleaning train.
Which cleaning chemicals do you supply?+
DSTC supplies PWT cleaning chemicals, including Lavasol alkaline and acidic cleaners and OPTI cleaner, dosed with SEKO metering pumps.
Does the skid heat the cleaning solution?+
Yes. The cleaning tank is heated with temperature control because warm solution can clean membranes more effectively when kept within the membrane maker's allowed limits.
Can one CIP skid clean both RO and UF membranes?+
Yes, one CIP skid can serve RO, NF and UF membranes if it is sized for the largest cleaning train and the pump flow and connections suit each membrane stage.
