Media Filters (Multimedia, Carbon and Iron/Manganese Filters)

فلاتر الوسائط (ملتيميديا، كربون، وإزالة الحديد/المنجنيز)

Product Description

A media filter is usually the first major barrier against turbidity, chlorine or iron before the rest of the treatment train, and DSTC assembles it around the contaminant to remove. We help select tank size, media type and valve for your flow and feed water, load the media and support later media replacement.

What to send for a quote

For quotation, send contaminant to remove, feed water analysis, required flow rate in m3/h, working pressure, preferred valve type, top-mount or side-mount, and delivery city.

Overview

A media filter passes water through a bed of graded media inside an FRP tank. Multimedia beds of silica sand over support gravel reduce turbidity and suspended solids. Activated carbon removes free chlorine, taste, odor and color. Birm oxidizes and holds back iron and manganese. DSTC builds units from 10x54 to 63x83 inch tanks, top-mount or side-mount, fitted with Clack WS1, motorized butterfly or manual multiport valves depending on automation need.

Applications

  • Turbidity and suspended solids removal ahead of RO membranes, softeners and cartridge filters
  • Free chlorine, taste, odor and color removal using activated carbon before RO or for process water
  • Iron and manganese removal from well water using Birm media for buildings and industrial supply
  • Sediment filtration for cooling tower make-up and boiler feed pretreatment
  • Well and municipal water polishing for hotels, compounds and factories in Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam
  • Filtration stage inside RO pretreatment trains for desalination and process water plants

Product Range & Specs

  • Filter types: multimedia (silica sand) for turbidity, activated carbon for chlorine, taste and odor, and Birm for iron and manganese removal
  • FRP pressure tanks in standard sizes from 10x54 inch up to 63x83 inch, top-mount or side-mount
  • Filter media: silica sand graded 0.41 to 4.75 mm over support gravel graded 4.75 to 20 mm; activated carbon or Birm as required
  • Control valve options: Clack WS1 automatic valve, motorized butterfly valve, or manual multiport valve
  • Backwash-capable design so the bed can be cleaned and reused; carbon and Birm beds serviced by media replacement
  • DSTC sizing, media supply and loading, valve selection, and support for installation and media change-out

Product Summary

A media filter is an FRP pressure tank filled with graded media that removes suspended solids, chlorine, taste and odor, or iron and manganese. DSTC supplies media filters in Saudi Arabia as multimedia, activated carbon or Birm units, built in FRP tanks from 10x54 inch up to 63x83 inch with Clack WS1, motorized butterfly or manual multiport valve.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which media filter do I need for my water?+

For cloudy water use multimedia; for chlorine/taste/odor use activated carbon; for iron/manganese use Birm.

What tank sizes and flow rates can DSTC supply?+

DSTC builds media filters from 10x54 inch for small duties up to 63x83 inch for larger flows.

Do these filters backwash automatically?+

They can, with Clack WS1 automatic valves or motorized butterfly valves. Manual multiport valves are also available.

Can a media filter be used before an RO system?+

Yes. Multimedia and carbon filters are common RO pretreatment steps.

How often does the media need replacing?+

Sand and gravel last for years with proper backwash; carbon and Birm are replaced when removal performance drops.
