Filter Media (Activated Carbon, Silica Sand, Gravel and Birm)
وسائط الفلترة (الكربون النشط، رمل السيليكا، الحصى وBirm)
Product Description
Filter performance depends on media grade, bed layering and support gravel as much as on the vessel itself, and DSTC supplies the media set to match the application. We help select the right media type and grade, calculate quantity per vessel and arrange delivery in 50 kg bags or by cubic foot.
For quotation, send media type, grade or brand, water problem, filter vessel diameter and bed depth or required quantity in 50 kg bags or cubic feet, and delivery city.
Overview
Filter media are the working layers inside pressure sand filters, carbon filters and multimedia filters. DSTC stocks activated carbon for chlorine, taste and odor removal; silica sand in 0.41–0.81 mm, 1.0–2.0 mm, 2.0–3.0 mm and 3.35–4.75 mm; support gravel in 4.75–8.0 mm, 8.0–13.0 mm and 10–20 mm; and Birm for iron and manganese removal. DSTC helps match media type and grade to the application and calculate fill quantity.
Applications
- •Chlorine, taste and odor removal using activated carbon ahead of RO membranes and in drinking water polishing
- •Sediment and turbidity removal in pressure sand filters for well water, municipal water and process water
- •Iron and manganese removal from well water using Birm media
- •Multimedia filter beds combining graded sand and support gravel for higher clarity
- •Support and underdrain layers using graded gravel to hold the media bed and spread backwash flow
- •Media replacement and top-up for existing sand filters, carbon filters and RO pretreatment skids

Frequently Asked Questions
What filter media does DSTC supply in Saudi Arabia?+
DSTC supplies activated carbon, silica sand, support gravel and Birm in the listed sizes and pack formats.
Which media do I use to remove chlorine and bad taste before RO?+
Use activated carbon. It removes free chlorine, taste and odor and protects RO membranes downstream.
How do I know how much filter media I need?+
Quantity depends on vessel diameter and bed depth. DSTC can calculate bags or cubic feet from your vessel size.
What removes iron and manganese from well water?+
Birm media removes iron and manganese when water chemistry is suitable, especially pH and dissolved oxygen.
Why do I need support gravel under the sand or carbon?+
Support gravel holds the finer media in place and spreads backwash flow evenly across the underdrain.
